The goal of the CAMTE Member Recognition Program is to celebrate the service of our members and to bring greater
attention to important, California-focused research on mathematics teacher-education. CAMTE will award up to 4 prizes annually- two CAMTE Research Awards and two CAMTE Honors Awards. Awardees will be selected through an Award Program Committee made up of CAMTE members. Awardees must be members of CAMTE and will be publicly recognized at either: CMC-South, CMC-North, or the AMTE Conference (at the awardee’s preference). Awardees will also be recognized in CAMTE’s newsletter. Each award includes: 1. A letter of commendation sent to the awardee and his/her supervisor; 2. a plaque; and 3. a cash award of $250.
CAMTE Research Award
The CAMTE Research Award is designed to encourage, recognize and publicize research on mathematics teacher-education
specific to the state of California. Research that addresses the complex issues that mathematics teacher-educators in California
must grapple with (including multicultural and multilingual classrooms; California’s highly competitive university system; and
pre-service teacher performance assessments) will receive special consideration. Award recipients will present their work during
CAMTE’s special session at the CMC-North or CMC-South Conferences (whichever conference they prefer) and will have a write-up
of their work included in CAMTE’s newsletter and/or their peer-reviewed journal. CAMTE gives two Research Awards annually. The
Research Award includes: 1. A letter of commendation sent to the awardee and his/her supervisor; 2. a plaque; and 3. a cash
award of $250.
CAMTE Research Award Application
Individuals who are interested in applying for or nominating someone for the CAMTE Research Award should submit an electronic document (no more than two pages in length) with the following information to firstname.lastname@example.org
• Name and affiliation of the applicant or nominee;
• Write-up of the research including: Research Question(s), Methods & Findings; and the specific ways that this work
addresses the challenges of mathematics teacher-education in the state of California.
CAMTE Honors Award
Each year, CAMTE will honor up to two members for their service to CAMTE and their contributions to mathematics-education in
the state of California. CAMTE Honors Awardees will be featured in CAMTE’s newsletter and will be recognized during either the
CMC-South or CMC-North meeting (at the preference of the awardee). The CAMTE Honors Award includes: 1. A letter of
commendation sent to the awardee and his/her supervisor; 2. a plaque; and 3. a cash award of $250. Both self and outside
nominations will be accepted for the CAMTE Honors Award.
CAMTE Honors Nomination Form
CAMTE Honors Award nominations (self-nominations are accepted) should be submitted electronically to email@example.com. They should include the following information and not exceed two pages in length:
• Name and affiliation of the nominee
• How the nominee has served CAMTE
• How the nominee has supported and advanced mathematics teacher-education in the state of California
• A list of any other related activities that demonstrate why the nominee should receive this award
